Empowering Haringey young people to build a career in the built environment sector

We’re delighted to announce our three-year partnership with the Goodman Foundation who are generously supporting the strategic development of our Haringey hub.

Our collaboration with Goodman will empower young people in Haringey to take meaningful steps towards a sustainable career in construction by providing them with the confidence, knowledge and skills to succeed.

While youth unemployment levels in Haringey currently exceed the London average, the construction and built environment sector offers a range of accessible career opportunities. The industry directly employs nearly 10% of the UK’s workforce, providing the essential infrastructure that drives sustainable growth.

Our three-year partnership will focus on:

1. Developing robust long-term relationships with new schools and colleges in the borough

2. Expanding our coaching programmes such as Pathways to Professional Careers and Building Opportunities to deliver improved skills for employment

3. Building relationships with new employers who can offer tangible opportunities to young people, including work experience and apprenticeships

Over the past 15 months, in partnership with Haringey Council, our Haringey hub has helped to deliver programmes in seven schools and colleges, supporting more than 80 young people with intensive coaching to prepare them for employment. With the support of Goodman, we look forward to building on this provision and are targeting supporting at least 150 young people across the Haringey by 2027.

Construction Youth Trust CEO, Carol Lynch, said:

  • “We are thrilled to partner with the Goodman Foundation to strengthen our Haringey hub, building on the work we began with the local authority and our valued partners across the borough to create a community where young people can truly flourish.
  • With generous cornerstone funding from the Goodman Foundation and the ongoing commitment of our local partners, we can invest in our Haringey hub and expand our intensive employability coaching programmes, reaching more young people than ever before. By leveraging our employer networks, we aim to open doors to meaningful jobs and apprenticeships, tackle youth unemployment and drive social mobility across the borough.
  • The Goodman Foundation is committed to providing tangible support to those experiencing disadvantage in the communities Goodman operates in. With most of its UK developments based in London and the South East – and future investment planned for North London – it is an ideal partner to help us equip young people with the tools they need to overcome barriers, build confidence, and take meaningful steps towards long-term financial stability."

Goodman UK Managing Director, Charles Crossland, added:

  • "We are proud to partner with like-minded organisations that offer education and employment pathways that will inspire, and lead to self-sufficiency and resilience.
  • Construction Youth Trust shares our vision of providing young people, regardless of their life circumstances, with the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through our partnership, we look forward to investing in Haringey’s future workforce and providing the skills that can enable regeneration and deliver essential infrastructure to support economic growth.
  • We believe this collaboration will make a difference to the lives of young people and help build a more inclusive, sustainable community."
